Area 10 Winter Dressage Qualifier 2011

Sunday 4th December was the winter dressage qualifier held at Ardingly.

The scoring in arena 1 was very harsh but despite this the two teams that attended gained some respectable scores.

The senior team comprised of Natalie Scott and Oliver with 57%, Emma Romano and In Monochrome with 64.1%, Lucy Benning and Countess with 65.3%, and Janice Greenfield and Traveling Lily with 60.3%

The junior team comprised of Tia Ratty and Queensdale Campari with 62.9% 3rd place, Pippa Greenwood and Finch with 67.9% 5th place, Hannah Knight and Knight's Parnashe with 68.4% 2nd place, and Felicity Sparks and Lordships Ambience with 63% 6th place. Overall the junior team came 3rd.

Well done!

Friendly Team Jumping 2011

On the 13th November 2011, Tia Ratty, Pippa Greenwood, Hannah Knight and John Benning took part in the friendly team jumping competition at Eaglesfield.

There were 33 teams and our team done a fantastic job by coming 8th! Well done!

London & South East DTM Chapionships 2011

Natalie Scott and Nicola Whiteman attended the L&SE DTM Championships on the 23rd October at Sands Farm.

In the plain clothes class Nicola came 7th and Natalie came 8th.

Nicola also competed in the Pas Seul class in her Mary Poppins costume and was crowned the L&SE Pas Seul Champion 2011.

BRC Dressage to Music National Championships 2011

Natalie Scott and Oliver represented the club in the Novice Freestyle DTM section. The competition at Aintree International Equestrian Centre was very strong.

Out of 33 riders from across the country, Natalie and Oliver came 16th with 67.35% in their first ever national championship.

Area 10 Show Jumping Qualifiers 30th July 2011

Hannah Knight competed at the qualifiers as an individual earning 4th place in the style jumping. She also competeted in the junior novice class and had an unfortunate 4 faults in the jump off. Well done!!!
We will be looking to send a team to the next jumping qualifiers so please get in touch!

Area 10 Dressage Qualifiers 24th July 2011

A big WELL DONE to our teams and individual riders that competed at the qualifiers. We had some great results with everyone coming away with a rossette!

Natalie has qualified for the Dressage to Music National Championship at Aintree and both Natalie and Nicola have qualified for the London and South East championship at Sands Farm.
Hannah Knight has also qualified for the National Championship at Lincoln as an individual in both her classes.

FDRC Members at BYRDS National Competition

Nicola Whiteman, Hannah Knight and Libby Berman were all chosen to ride for the BYRDS teams at Keysoe in July.

The competition was very very high and all three riders rode superb tests and came away with very respectable scores. Well Done!

Libby Berman - British Dressage National under 25’s Championships 2010

Libby was chosen for the BYRDS “A” team to represent the Southern Region at the British Dressage National under 25’s championships in Lincolnshire at the end of the summer.

There were over 20 teams from all over the UK including Scotland/Ireland/Wales and the Channel Islands. Each team (consisting of 4 members) had to compete in three events over three days and Libby was placed each day.

When the team’s points were added up Libby’s team (called Southern Olympia) came first overall and she/they are now National Team Dressage Champions for the under 25’s.

Well done to Libby and Ringlestone Morgan, a fantastic result!

Dressage to Music Championships 2010

Nicola Whiteman and Spring to Glory made the long haul up to Aintree having qualified for the Junior 0 points Dressage to Music Championships.

A brilliant result coming 5th.

Lincoln Championships 2010

This report and photos kindly brought to us by our roving reporter Paul Ratty.

4 commemorative rosettes and 1 closed motorway

“Good morning competitors….. Today we are going to have some horses jumping over poles and some others prancing around in circles”.

It was 07:00 and the loudspeaker blasted out on a crisp, clear, sunny Sunday morning. This was the day Tia, Pippa, Fizzy and Danni had been waiting for, a chance to get the Fawkham & District Riding Club on the dressage map of greatness.

Oh the excitement, the tension, the nerves. The parents were immersed in a state of panic as showtime approached. Thankfully, the riders were calm and collected.

The journey to Lincoln had been largely uneventful and only disturbed by Mrs Faultley informing us when we were halfway, three quarters, 7/8ths of the way there. Who needs a Sat Nav !.

A quick explore of the showground and then it was down to the most important decision of the day……..What colour souvenir sweatshirt should we buy. Purple, no Blue, no Purple. Then it was off to our horsebox, tent, travel inn for a good night’s rest.

Mrs Greenwood – How did you all fit in that tent ?.

Didn’t they do well. Er maybe, not sure. But the standard is so high and as I always say, “A dressage test is a test of your skill against another competitor’s luck”.

Well done to Pippa for making the top 10 of her arena and I must say that Danni gave a superb exhibition and the judges comment of “would make a good fairground horse” was grossly unfair.

So the curtain comes down on another championship show and all that’s left are shattered dreams……………….

Oh well, at least there is the winter dressage series to look forward to.

Dreams were not all that was shattered on that weekend. The tyre of Mrs Ratty’s vehicle exploded on the M11 and as fellow team members sped past the question was :- Would the pony load into a horsebox on a deserted motorway ?.

Yes, went in without hesitation, the motorway traffic control staff seemed relieved they had only held everyone up for 10 minutes or so.
And there it ends. A real tale of WHOA!.

Area 10 Dressage Summer Qualifier 2010

As can be seen below, an amazing set of results by our riders this year. Every single one comes home with at least one rosette! The junior Gold team of Tia, Danni, Fizzy and Pippa have qualfied for the championships at Lincoln.

London & South East Dressage to Music Championships 2009

Nicola Whiteman and Spring to Glory qualified for the Dressage to Music section in costume. Nicola started competed at DTM for the first time this year and seems to have found her niche! Much to everyone’s delight she won her class on 78.1%.

Nicola’s Mum Dawn has worked tirelessly supporting the girls, having bred both of them! The final result was tied but the marks for artistic merit were the deciding factor. So Dawn’s dressmaking skills tipped the balance. Nicola and Spring were dressed as the Carousel horse from Mary Poppins with Nicola’s shoes causing many sleepless nights for Dawn.

Well done, what a team!

Nicola and Spring

Addington Dressage to Music National Championships 2009

Nicola Whiteman and Spring to Glory represented the club in the Freestyle DTM section. The competition at Addington was very strong and the venue daunting. The atmosphere was very intense and it felt like being at Olympia. Despite this Nicola did a fab test and came 6th at her first attempt at a National Championship.

Riding Club Championships Lincoln 2009

It was the first time we have qualified a Senior team for the Championships. We all travelled together in style and comfort using the services of Mark Perry Horse Transport in his fantastic 8 horse lorry. We thought it was very thoughtful of him to provide a red lorry in our team colours! Mark kindly provided sponsorship for the team as well as a very professional and quality service.

For once the weather was on our side and the day was perfect. We all tried our best and it showed, as a team we came 14th which is amazing considering there were 40 teams. Janice was placed 7th and Shelley 9th individually, despite Shelley’s horse Louis trying to bite his tongue off just before he was due to go in. Anna came 15th and I came 22nd.

We all had such a brilliant time that we are determined to try and qualify again next year. I can safely say I’ve never laughed so much when we went for a team building dinner the evening before the competition. I also thought that everyone pulled together on the day to help each other in true team fashion.

Area 10 Dressage Summer Qualifier 2009

The club wanted to field as many members as possible as FDRC took on the massive task of organising the qualifier. The general consensus was that the day went really well and the organisers did a fantastic job (hmm think we know who might have to do it again next year!!!!)

We came away with lots of rosettes and a few of the more mature members in a state of shock!

Junior Teams

Nicola Whiteman – Merlin
Kayleigh Jones – Laddy
Lily Ward – Dylan
Fizzy Sparks – Lordships Ambience

As a team came 5th in the riding test and dressage

Tia Ratty – Queensdale Campari
Pippa Greenwood – Finch (6th individually)

Alex Hill – Blue Moon Eclipse (6th individually)

As a team came 4th in the riding test and dressage

Nicola Whiteman – Spring to Glory came 4th in the Pas Seul and has qualified for the London & South East Championships. As well as winning the junior dressage to music and qualifying for the championships at Ardingly!

Alex Hill – Blue Moon Eclipse came 2nd in the dressage to music and has also qualified for London & South East.

Senior Teams

Ruth Hibberd - Dante came 4th individually

The Senior Open Team surprised themselves and everyone else by winning as a team and qualifying for the Nationals at Lincoln. I actually queried the result with the organisers as I was so surprised!

Vicky Rieunier – Pomerol van het Blokenhof (4th individually)
Anna Turner-Bee – Wallaby Turnaby (2nd individually)
Shelley Ratty – Highview Secret (1st Individually)
Janice Greenfield – Traveling Lily

Shelley was on a roll and also won her medium class which means she qualifies for Lincoln at medium too.

Jane Manley – Billy Whizz representing the club for the first time came 3rd in the medium.

Also a big thank you to Kate Rogers, Natalie Scott and Lucy Edmeades-Stearns for taking part.

A fantastic set of results all round, a big well done and thank you to everyone who competed.

Horse Trials National Championships 2009

Torrential rain on the day of the Junior competition meant that the XC phase was cancelled. Given that it would have been a 6 hour round trip for Danni and Noah to just do dressage and a round of showjumping, also that the going was really bad, we took the decision not to go.

Danni was bitterly disappointed as this would have been the first time competing at National level and was really looking forward to it. Fingers crossed for next year.

Area 10 Horse Trials 2009

Danni Fautley riding Oppello (stable name Noah) was entered as an individual in the Junior Novice Horse Trials. This was held over the British Eventing Intro track.

Danni was riding her Mum's horse for the first time in an event as large and technical as Borde Hill.

Danni and Noah rose to the occasion and came 2nd in their class. They also have qualified for the National Horse Trials Championships at Offchurch Bury much to their delight and surprise!!!

Well done to them both. This will be the first time Fawkham & District have qualified for the Nationals in the eventing discipline

Area 10 Dressage Winter Qualifier 2009

We fielded two junior teams for the first time! Yet again excellent results against very strong competition.

Came 4th as a team

Pippa Greenwood - Finch
Tia Ratty - Blinky Blue
Alex Hill - Blue Moon Eclipse
Danni Fautley - Pomerol van het Blokenhof

Came 3rd as a team

Riding Club Championships Lincoln 2008

Alex Hill and Blue Moon Eclipse represented the club as junior individuals this year riding Novice 20, despite having to face torrential rain and muddy conditions. Dawn Whiteman described the Lincoln Showground as being like Glastonbury! Alex made a brave effort and rode her test although she was given the opportunity to withdraw as the conditions were so dreadful.

Well done to Alex and her supporters for rising to the challenge. We did think this would be Alex’s last time riding for us as a junior but recent rule changes mean she will be able to ride for us for a further year. Let’s hope the weather is kinder next year.

Area 10 Dressage Summer Qualifier 2008

It was a really hot day so the team had to work extra hard in the heat. Yet again another successful day for the juniors. With congratulations to Alex who qualfied as an individual for the Championships in Lincoln.

Area 10 Dressage Winter Qualifier 2008

It was a freezing cold day but we were all thankful for the huge indoor school to warm up in, having to brave the cold only briefly for the test itself. Again some really excellent results only narrowly missing out on sending a team member to the championships.

Leanne Baker – Moorbridge Clearway 2nd
